The lodge, on Google

You do not have to believe in anything.

Most wellness retreats ask you to buy in before you arrive. This one does not. Isabel's mother practiced medicine for thirty years, and she is in the room for the parts that might sound strange to you. Isabel explains every session before it starts: how long it lasts, what you do, what you do not. Everything here is an invitation.

It is not a medical retreat and it is not treatment. It is rest, with people who know what they are doing.

Five nights, six days

How the week goes.

  1. 01Arrive

Nobody checks you in. Someone is waiting with your name, your room is ready, and there is something to drink. Nothing is scheduled. If you want, somebody walks you down to the water before the sun goes down. At dinner, both Isabels sit at the table.

  2. 02The body

Gentle movement outside in the morning, with whoever wants to join. Mid-morning, your session with both Isabels, about an hour and a half. Then the afternoon is yours.

  3. 03The breath

Breathwork in the morning, lying down, with music and a stretch of quiet after. The afternoon is free, or it is your massage. In the evening, sound: about forty minutes. You lie down, Isabel plays the gong and the bowls, you do nothing. Most people fall asleep.

  4. 04The forest

A full day outside: the waterfall, the natural pool, a walk. It is the only long day of the week. Dinner, and nothing after. That empty evening is on purpose.

  5. 05What stays

Yoga or breathwork in the morning. In the afternoon, a short conversation with Isabel, just the two of you: what worked, what you are taking home. She writes it down for you. The last dinner.

  6. 06Leave

A slow morning. Breakfast, your bags, and the shuttle if you added it.

The lodge terrace at dusk, looking out over the forest ridge

Three things a day at most, and one of them can be nothing. Yoga and breathwork happen together, with whoever joins that morning. Everything else is just you.

The second morning

The Sit-Down.

This is the part nobody else offers. For about ninety minutes, both of them are with you.

Her mother does the work. She does not speak English, so Isabel sits beside her, translates, and writes down what will shape the rest of your week. How you sleep, how you eat, where you carry the stress, what brought you here. Nobody is in a hurry.

Before and after

It starts before you arrive, and it does not end when you leave.

  • The call

Fifteen minutes with Isabel before anything is booked.

  • The note

Once you book, Isabel writes you half a page about how your week will look. Written for you, not copied from a brochure.

  • The thirty-day call

A month after you leave, Isabel calls. Half an hour: what held, what slipped. That is it.

Before you ask

The questions people actually send.

  • Is this a medical retreat?

No. She practiced medicine for thirty years and that shapes how she works, but this is not treatment and we do not present it as such. If you want to talk it through, Isabel does a fifteen-minute call.

  • I have never done yoga, breathwork or any of this.

Nothing here needs experience. Isabel explains every session before it starts, and you can sit any of it out.

  • Do I have to do the group activities?

No. Everything here is an invitation. Most people eat together, some do not. Both are fine.

  • I would be coming alone.

Most of the week is just you: the Sit-Down, your massage, your closing conversation. Meals are shared if you want them to be. The week works the same with one guest or six.

  • Can I come with my partner?

Yes. You share a room, and the second person pays less. Isabel goes through it on the call.

  • How far is it?

A long drive from Quito, up through the Andes and down into the forest. The road is in good condition. You can add the shuttle from Quito airport when you book, and if your flight lands late it is better to spend that night in Quito and come in the next morning.

  • What if something happens while I am there?

The nearest hospital is in Puyo, forty minutes away on a good road. Isabel will tell you on the call anything else you want to know.

  • Will I have signal?

The wifi works, in case you need it to. Heavy rain can cut it for a while.

  • Is there plant medicine?

Not in the retreat, and nothing in the week alters your consciousness. Ceremonies like temazcal can be arranged separately. If that is why you are coming, tell Isabel on the call.

  • Is English spoken?

Isabel speaks English and is with you all week. Her mother speaks Spanish. When she works with you, Isabel is right there translating.

  • What is the food like?

Three meals a day, cooked at the house. Tell Isabel on the call what you do not eat.

  • What should I pack?

Light clothes for the day, something warm for the evenings, a rain jacket, shoes you do not mind getting muddy and a pair of sandals, and swimwear for the pool, the waterfall and the jacuzzi.

  • What flights should I book?

Fly into Quito (UIO). Isabel will tell you which arrival times work with the shuttle.

  • How does booking work?

Book a fifteen-minute call with Isabel. If the week fits, she holds your room and sends you the payment link.
